What will you learn?

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:

  • Knowledge Development (online or classroom) to understand basic principles of scuba diving
  • Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills (Our Pool)
  • Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore! (Dutch Springs)


Entry Requirements

  • Student must be at least 10 years of age
  • Student must be able to swim 200 yards and tread water for 10 minutes without dipping their head underwater.


What scuba gear will you use?

In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you will be instructed on the use of: a regulator system (1st & 2nd Stages, Octo, Computer, Depth & Air Pressure Gauges), buoyancy control device (BCD) and a tank. Additionally, you will be required to purchase your own basic gear which includes: a mask, snorkel, fins, and boots.


The Fun Part

The fun part about this course is... well, just about all of it because learning to scuba dive is incredible. You breathe underwater for the first time (something you will never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified diver. During the course, you will make at least three pool dives and four dives at a local dive site under the supervision of your PADI instructor.
Learning Materials
There are 3 different options for completing the Knowledge Development phase of the course:

  • Option I: PADI Open Water Crew Pack w/ DVD (classroom academics)
  • Option II: PADI eLearning + eLearning Crew Pack (online academics)
  • Option III: Open Water Diver Touch (tablet app) *Coming Soon*


Class Options

  • Sunday Mornings (3 or 4 total classes): 8:00am - 12:00pm
  • Tuesday/Thursday Evenings (4 or 5 total classes): 7:00pm – 10:30pm
  • We also offer Private & Semi-Private (2-3 students) classes.

*Can’t make every class? We will allow you to reschedule a missed class for a $60 fee. Any missed class must be completed prior to the next scheduled class.
