Master Scuba Diver Trainer Prep Program

The Master Scuba Diver Trainer Prep Program consists of five PADI Specialty Instructor Courses conducted in an integrated manner. The PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer course is designed to train instructors how to organize, market, and conduct five of the following PADI Specialty Diver Courses:

1. PADI Boat Diver
2. PADI Deep Diver
3. PADI Digital Underwater Photographer
4. PADI Dry suit Diver
5. PADI EANx Diver
6. PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider
7. PADI Night Diver  8. PADI Search and Recovery Diver
9. PADI Underwater Navigator
10. PADI Wreck Diver

The course involves academic presentations and open water dives. Candidates are shown how to conduct training dives, briefings and scenarios. Subjects covered vary with each Specialty Instructor Course, but may include wreck mapping and surveying, wreck penetration drills, use of wreck reels, navigation and search and recovery skills and techniques, enriched air diving considerations, dive planning, deep and night diving considerations and techniques. Additionally, dry suit maintenance and skills needed to dive dry, local boat diving techniques, principles for good underwater photos, and oxygen equipment provision and use.

Entry Requirements:
Candidate must be a current PADI Instructor or hold a qualifying certification from another training organization and be certified as an Enriched Air Diver if taking the Enriched Air Specialty Instructor Course.

Course Materials:
The following materials are required for the MSDT prep course:

Equipment Needed:
The following equipment is required for the MSDT prep course:
• Mask
• Fins
• Snorkel
• BCD with low pressure inflator system
• Single hose regulator with alternate air source device
• Submersible pressure gauge(computers are acceptable)
• Depth gauge (computers are acceptable)
• Compass (computers are acceptable)
• Bottom timing device (computers are acceptable)
• Water resistant timing device (watch with second hand)
• Weight system and weights
• Dive knife or tool
• Audible surface signaling device (whistle or other noise maker)
• Visible surface signaling device (tube or mirror)
• Underwater signaling device
• Pencil and underwater slate
• Logbook

Additional equipment such as a wreck reel, lift bag, line, Nav finder, underwater lights (primary and secondary) underwater camera, drysuit, may be needed for individual courses; please call for the specific requirements of each course.

The Master Scuba Diver Trainer Prep Course may be scheduled upon request.

Certification Awarded:

Five PADI Specialty Instructor ratings. Application fees of $51 per Instructor Specialty are additional. Each specialty application requires 10 logged dives in that specialty. Candidates qualify for the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating only after they have certified 25 PADI divers and submitted a separate application to PADI. The MSDT application fee of $70 is payable to PADI upon 25 documented certifications.
